About butterfly valves

A butterfly valve uses a disc mounted on a stem across the bore. A quarter turn rotates the disc from fully closed to fully open. Butterfly valves are short face-to-face, light and economical, especially in larger sizes, and are widely used for isolation and flow regulation in water and HVAC systems.

GMC datasheets list lever operated and gear operated versions. A gear operator reduces the force needed to turn the disc, which is helpful on larger sizes. GMC's product line also lists actuator and motorised operation; ask for details.

Butterfly Valves: FAQs

When should a butterfly valve have a gear operator?
A gear operator makes larger valves easier to open and close and allows slower, more controlled operation. Lever operation is common on smaller sizes.
Can a butterfly valve regulate flow?
Yes, butterfly valves can be used for flow regulation as well as isolation. Discuss your duty with GMC so the operator and seat material suit it.
What is the price of a butterfly valve in Pakistan?
The price depends on the size, pressure rating, body material, end connection, quantity and any testing or documents required, so GMC quotes each enquiry individually. Send the sizes, ratings and quantities through the quote form and GMC will reply with a written quotation.

Need help choosing?
